{Summer 2013 Re-Cap}

It's so hard to believe that summer is practically over already! The public schools and colleges have started, the kids here start next week, the weather is cooling down, and even the leaves are changing colors too! We've stayed quite busy the entire summer, and we're actually looking forward to school starting again and being back on a schedule!

I know there has been a serious lack of posting on our blog, so we would like to just re-cap the summer and share some of the highlights! (It might be a long post!)

***We started out the summer right, by enjoying a great, restful vacation in Virginia at the end of May.

***As you can see in previous posts, we were thrilled to be able to have Timmy and Ava a couples weeks over the summer!!

***All 5 of us kids were able to attend the entire week of church camp (the last week of July) this year. I tested out my long-haul, night-driving capability by driving all night Friday night to get back home. We made it in around 5:15 a.m. and I can honestly say it was all God and I don't care to repeat that adventure too many more times, unless absolutely necessary!!

***Mom and Dad were left alone the entire week of church camp to casually celebrate their 34th wedding anniversary!!

***They say that every couple of years, your garden just won't do very well. This was one of those years for us! Thankfully, dad is so good at gardening, that we haven't had one of those years in a very long time; but this year has been the exception. It's been so wet and cool, and things just didn't grow very well. This was our second year growing peas, and they did fairly well. The sweet corn, tomatoes and green peppers, still aren't ready yet. The cucumbers are good, there is just not very many of them! The greens bean have been good, but we picked them for the third time today (the third time should be about the biggest picking) and we didn't even get a whole 5-gallon bucket. But God knows and we are very thankful for everything we have gotten from the garden, even if it's not as much as we're used to!

***Kelley took a summer job at an ice cream place only a few miles from the house and has really enjoyed that! She took one course over the summer, but was really able to just enjoy summer a little bit this year! She started back to school this past Tuesday and is looking forward to the clinical days in surgery, wound care, and anything else (blood and guts related, that is) she can get into!

***Kaitlyn graduated from high school in June (a post about her graduation party, coming soon!). She had the opportunity again this summer to go to Florida for Pensacola's two week music camp. Aunt Dianna had hip-replacement surgery in April and Kaitlyn was able to go down there for a little over a week to help out. Right now, she is still trying to decided what she wants to do as far as job/school. We appreciate her help around here, and she continues to work with Mom in the office.

Kaitlyn is the 5th from the left in the front row.
(We're still waiting on pictures of the ceremony from the photographer!)

***Kaleb has been stretched pretty thin over the summer trying to figure out how to be in three places at once! It seems our neighbors can't survive without him! He is still helping take care of the poodles for one neighbor and mows the lawn for another neighbor, and works for another neighbor's lawn care business! He also got to go camping with a friend and thoroughly enjoyed that!!

Taking care of a brand-new puppy that he had just delivered.

***Katrina too, has been working very hard as head dog washer for our neighbor's 20+ poodles! She also started taking piano lessons this summer and is doing very well.

***I have been busy watching kids! My favorite thing to do right now! I have been a cabin counselor at church camp for the past several years, but this year I wasn't needed, so I enjoyed a very leisure week there, spending time with my best friend from Kentucky. In August, I had the "pleasure" of having my wisdom teeth cut out. I was very fortunate and had not had any pain from them before. I had an excellent surgeon, and have been told I recovered very well. I had some swelling, but not a ton, and escaped with only 1 bruise!!

***With the exception of one or two of us here and there, we were again able to attend all our family reunions this year.

Now we will try to settle down into a hopefully less hectic season!
Doubtful, but it's a thought anyway!!

So, goodbye summer, hello autumn!

God bless you and yours,

We were SO excited to have the chance for Timmy to come stay with us for a few days at the beginning of July!! We had so much fun with him and he is such an awesome, special kid!! It worked out that Ava was also able to come during that week, so that was double to fun! Here are some pictures of our week together.....sorry, they are in no real order.
