{Deck Renovations}

We have wanted a roof over the deck for a few years now, but there was always something else!
Because of some serious issues that we have had with ice at the back door,
dad decided that it needed to be under roof before winter.
And so, wood was ordered and construction started the last week of July!

Dad had that week off, so that made for a really great start.
A man from our church, who is a fabulous carpenter, agreed to help us out, and that was also a HUGE blessing!

Starting the process!

It took several days work to tie the new roof into the roof on the original house. Dave's son, Philip, was able to help out several days, too.

It was SO cold and SO wet the first couple of days!
The poor guys were soaking wet and freezing!
But anyone who knows dad, knows how true this is:
Anyone: "Hey, it's really cold and raining out here."
Dad: "So?"

They unloaded the shingles onto the roof at the front of the house, and carried them to the back, rather than taking them up the stairs and then up the ladder.

Putting up ceiling fans.....at 9 p.m.
I think he was getting excited!

Relaxing....even though it was a mess and still not finished!

So, after 3 weeks of lots of hard work, here is the best part!!!!!!!!!

And we LOVE it out there!!
