{Safety}

Dad came home late Monday night, and pulled into the house.

Normally, he goes straight to the building to park, so we kind of wondered what was going on, but we didn't really think about.

 

Then he came in and got the Shop Vac.

 

 

Come to find out (if you know dad, you realize that may have taken many questions to get all the facts!), on his way home, a tractor trailer crossed the center line of the road and smashed dad's side mirror! Of course, it ruined the other guys mirror too, but thankfully it wasn't much, much worse!

It could have been horrible! Dad said it happened so fast, there was no time to think or react at all.

 

 

It's been pretty warm here, so dad had is window part way down when all this happened.

A lot of the glass from the mirror, then went inside the truck.

Miraculously, dad wasn't hurt by any of the glass that came inside!

 

 

We're SO thankful for how God protected him!!

We pray all the time that God will keep him safe on the road, but you just don't really know how serious it is until something happens!

{Weekend Happenings}

Wow!! What a weekend we had! There's a ton of pictures here, so I'll let them do most of the talking!

~Ava wanted to come back and be here for the 4th of July, so mom met Ashley Thursday evening and picked Ava up. 

~Khara and Tim came down Friday and spent the evening with us. We really enjoyed getting to spend some time with them and the kids, who have have grown SO much!

Then they went to play in the pool on the deck!

~Saturday, Timmy came back over to play. He and Ava had such a good time together! They played and laughed non-stop all day! Katrina's birthday was Friday, but we waited until Saturday to celebrate.

Saturday evening, we went to see some fireworks and Timmy and Ava really enjoyed that! They did so good! We ended up waiting almost 2 hours for them to start and they lasted about an hour, but the kids did great!!

~We also were hit with part of that bad storm Friday night...we didn't loose our electricity like a lot of people, but we did have a tree that fell down. So Dad spent all day getting rid of that and trimming the rest of the pine trees.

~Kaleb got his first driving lesson!! He did really good!

~Sunday evening, we had a church picnic. Ava used to hate sparklers, but she was absolutely thrilled with them this year! She has SO much fun!!

~Monday, Khara and Tim stopped back by to say good-bye on their way home.

So that about wraps up our weekend! It was busy, but fun!

Now, we're recovering and getting ready to have a great 4th of July!!!

Gardening:

We have had a pretty rainy spring this year, which is good because we didn't get very much snow. But it slacked off for a couple of days, and let the ground dry out a little so Dad could get the potatoes planted about two Saturday's ago. Last year, it was just too wet when he planted them, and they didn't do well at all.




So, the ground wasn't COMPLETELY dried out...it took a few more muscles!!!!

So, now the potatoes are planted and dad is actually out there tonight planting other things as well. We generally plant tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, carrots, onions, beats, peppers, lettuce, spinach, green beans, shell beans and this year we are trying out peas, so hopefully everything will grow well!!

I know Pappy would be very proud of how Dad has kept up with his gardens!!! He does such a great job with them every single year and we are very thankful for that!!!
